The days of sacrificing health for taste are over. Adding coconut creamer to your mud is like creating a superfood latte that makes you skinny.
Odds are, your nutrition teacher was wrong about fats.
They're really good for you.
Which is why coconut oil has been popping up on store shelves a lot these past few years, and for good reason. Science has shown that everything we knew about fats was wrong.
Specifically when speaking about MCT oil.
MCT stands for medium-chain triglycerides, a type of fat that is found in coconut milk. Triglycerides are the molecules of most fats and medium-chain is just the size of the molecule's tail. The shorter tail allows the fat to be absorbed quicker and requires fewer steps to be converted into energy.
Contrary to the past consensus, fats don't make you fat. In fact a study showed, people who add MCT oil to their morning coffee, or mud burn more fat than individuals who don't.
Weird I know, but what happens is MCT oil is converted to ketones which increase your body's metabolic rate, which actually helps you burn fat and lose weight. Even more reason to skip the Starbucks pumpkin spice creamer at the grocery store.
The weight loss benefits individuals experience are because medium-chain triglycerides produce ketones in the body. Ketones suppress ghrelin (the near equivalent to a gremlin), the hunger hormone while increasing another hormone called cholecystokinin which makes you feel full. Allowing you to get through your day without the desire to snack.
On top of all this, athletes have been implementing this into their diet for performance benefits. A study showed athletes who used MCT oil built up less lactate in their muscles during high intensity interval training. Allowing them to perform longer and recover quicker.
All these benefits come from the medium chain triglycerides. A small amount is in coconut. But not enough to really experience any benefits. Which is why we added MCT Oil into our creamer rather than just rely on the coconut. Now you get a mix of amazing taste and benefit.
